Following its launch at the International Symposium on November 4, 2024, Ryudai Pantry Nuchi Maaru held its fourth event on Wednesday, May 7, 2025. Although the rainy weather and timing just after Golden Week led to fewer visitors than usual, generous donations of shoes and earthenware pots were collected, and many supplies were distributed to students in need, including suitcases, dishes, books, and clothing.

One recipient of a suitcase shared, “My suitcase recently broke and I was greatful that Nuchi Maaru unexpectedly offered it for free” and a recipient of clothes said, “I’m so happy I found cute clothes!” These small but meaningful exchanges reminded once again of the value of mutual support within the university community.

Some faculty and visitors also stopped by to offer kind words, such as, “This is a great initiative—keep up the good work!” Their encouragement reinforces how this project is steadily growing into a shared effort to build a more caring and inclusive campus.

Nuchi Maaru will hold regular events on the second Wednesday of every month. The next event is scheduled for Wednesday, June 11, from 12:30 to 14:30. We warmly invite ongoing support and contributions from students, faculty, and staff at the University of the Ryukyus.
